McGill and Concordia Student Guide to Insurances for Gender Affirming Care

Insurance

Currently the SSMU does not have any gender affirming coverage outside of what is provided by it’s health plan. It only a small bursary QUIPS (link). The situation is ongoing, hopefully there will be comprehensive coverage in the near future. Please see our Instagram posts for the latest updates, or message or email us.

For SSMU and PGSS members, unless you opted out, Canadians have the full StudentCare coverage, and international students have partial coverage that complements their Blue Cross international insurance which include GAC.

Often, you need a diagnosis for gender dysphoria in order to access the healthcare coverage offered by Student Care, please refer to our guide on how to obtain a gender dysphoria diagnosis.
