Post Surgery Support Program

Surgery
Created by ASTT(e)Q & the TPU
Last Updated: September 1, 2025

We have teamed up with ASTT(e)Q to provide specialized support to those recovering from gender affirming surgeries in Montreal. Priority given to individuals who don’t have the community support necessary for recovery.

If you have received a surgery date, reach out to us to set up a meeting with an intervention worker. We will connect you with our amazing network of volunteers who have been trained by ASTTeQ staff with a harm reduction and trauma-informed approach. Our volunteers are trained to know about gender affirming surgeries, what to expect and how to support the self-advocacy of people in recovery.

Support offered through program:

  • Grocery deliveries
  • Medication pickups
  • Meal preparation
  • Medical appointment accompaniments
  • Lifts
  • Help with recovery-related planning
  • Peer support

If you’d like to get involved in the program as a volunteer, reach out using ASTTeQ’s contact form.

DIY HRT Resources: HRT Science, Guides, and Suppliers

All trans patients, especially those taking charge of their own HRT, should know how that HRT works and affects them. Doctors often know very little about trans health and the effects of HRT, and the majority of what they do know comes from other trans patients. Having a basic understanding of how HRT works and what it affects will help you navigate your healthcare better and have more ground to stand on when advocating for yourself.

Our work is based on your experiences.

Every resource we create, every change we fight for, is based on what we hear from Montreal's trans and non-binary patients. Your experience as a patient is at the heart of what we do. Here's how you can share yours with us.
